MoAS Report for Silfren Mere July 15th, 2007 Submitted by Sorcha inghean Maille
Classes held in Silfren Mere:
February 14th. SCA 101 class. Taught by Lyulf. 20-25 people. March 1. Gilding Class. Taught by Gavin. 4 people. April 11. SCA 201: Court Manners. Taught by Lyulf. 25-30 people. May 9. S&B workday May 19. Fireside Cooking Class. Taught by Rosamund. 12-13 people. June 9,11, and 13. Antari A&S class. Taught by Taryn. Met three nights at three different sites. I?ve no idea how many were there as I was at Lilie?s War but more than 5? July 11th. A&S Work night. About a dozen people working on projects.
Group Project: In late June, the Shire came together to make yellow and blue sashes for the heavy fighting field at Warriors and Warlords. Twelve people worked together, having four sergers running at once, to finish 150 total sashes.
List special interest groups and/or Guilds and a brief description of their projects:
The guilds here have been very quiet. The blacksmithing, the vintning, the fiber and the food guilds have all talked about getting a meeting but no one has in the last six months. At the May Business Meeting, we agreed that some sort of a challenge might be useful to revitalize the guilds. This was initiated in June and will formally start on August 1st, being a six month long communication and meeting challenge. Points to be awarded. In February, the guild with the most points will plan a party to which all guild members can come and celebrate. It?s going to be fun, I think, if I keep pushing the guild leaders.
Outside of the guilds, though, people are helping each other and sharing skills, teaching and doing. For example, there was a run of antari-sewing nights where several people got together and helped each other. We?ve one new member who has started his first basic tunics because one of our cornerstone members helped him with the initial cutting out.
List individual projects with a brief description of each project:
We have some very busy people! As last report, I?ll send you the file that is a snapshot of what individuals are doing.
Members to mention here who have served the greater good:
Karel and Lyulf Angus MacDougal designed, built and painted new street signs for the shire, before Coronation. Bridhid inghean Fhionnguala, Alinore and Brenna researched and designed Spring Coronation Feast. Alinore and Brenna led the efforts to putting it on with the help of a fantastic team of people. Aegiline and Mairead designed the table decorations for this feast. Aegiline led the efforts to pulling these together, also with the help of a team of people. Anplica Fiore won Ivatta?s Brewing Challenge at WW. She also has an article in the latest MMM publication. Alinore and Aletheia Xanthe took part in the Baronial Challenge at WW.
I strongly feel I?m missing some people here. People who deserve credit. I may be amending this report ? probably as soon as I get it sent to my shire. I?d like to mention as many people as I can!
