The Shire of Silfren Mere was founded in August of 1984 and gained full status in May of 1990. The shire takes its name from the Gallic form of Silver Lake and was part of the Middle Kingdom, the Principality of the Northshield. It is now part of the Kingdom or Northshield. While the membership in the shire has always been low , around 30, we are known for the quality of our work. People look forward to our events because we make them fun. Our ideas and innovations have been popularized throughout the Kingdom.

Our membership has provided service to the Kingdom as major officers at the regional levels. Individuals have received numerous awards and honoraria for their skills in the arts and sciences and for their services. If you are interested in joining our shire, you will be welcomed with open arms. We would be happy to introduce you to the Society for Creative Anachronism. We will encourage you to develop your talents and pursue your interests. One of the founding principles of the SCA is encouragement and support. The Shire of Silfren Mere subscribes fully to this ideal. The SCA provides opportunities and entertainment for all ages, so family participation is common. If you are under 18, a legal guardian is required for participation.
